BCS Students visit Jamie’s Farm

BCS students have been busy learning new skills in the Great British Countryside. During a recent visit to Jamie’s Farm, they participated in a range of activities including farming, cooking, gardening, log chopping, craft work, therapeutic horse work and walking in the countryside, including a hike up the Black Mountains. They lived like a family; working, eating and playing together. After each meal they reflected on their success and behaviour, giving compliments and showing recognition of the rest of the group’s achievements.

Some of the highlights included the students engaging in all of the activities, showing intelligence and working extremely hard around the farm, enjoying the practical and ever-changing environment on the farm, staying engaged a lot through the week and being really focused on tasks, and lastly one student who managed to conquer her fear of dogs, showing she can learn to trust people.

Staff at Jamie’s farm thoroughly enjoyed the week and hope to work with our students on the farm again in the future and would like to thank everyone for making such a rewarding visit possible!
